Description

Victores - Romagna DOC Sangiovese Superiore 2018

The 2018 growing season unfolded with a gentler rhythm in the hills between Romagna and Toscana. A cool start and well-timed spring rains were followed by a warm, stable summer, allowing for balanced and even ripening — a vintage that clearly reflects the influence of the crystalline gypsum soils of the UNESCO-listed Vena del Gesso ridge, which impart purity and marked mineral tension.

The grapes were harvested on September 10th, then fermented and matured in stainless-steel tanks before aging 16 months in 225-liter wooden barriques. After bottling, the wine continued to refine in our cellar. The result is a vintage that expresses finesse over power, with remarkable balance, salinity, and definition.

Victores 2018 presents a deep, luminous ruby hue, vibrant yet already evolving with grace. The bouquet is intense and layered, offering notes of orange zest, licorice, earthy roots, spice, and a subtle balsamic undertone, forming a complex and expressive aromatic profile.

On the palate, the wine is full-bodied, rich, and savory, with firm but refined tannins supported by fresh, driving acidity. A distinct salinity, characteristic of the Victores style and its gypsum terroir, carries the wine through a long, structured, and gastronomic finish.

A dynamic and energetic Sangiovese, Victores 2018 combines depth, persistence, and vibrant tension. Ideal with grilled meats, Florentine steak, and hearty traditional dishes, it is still youthful yet already displays the complexity and promise of graceful evolution.

*** At Divinalux, we use only a refined touch of sulfites—just enough to protect the wine as it ages, without overshadowing its purity. While sulfites may be more noticeable in wine than in food due to the presence of alcohol, they remain discreet for most consumers. Our philosophy is simple: minimal intervention, maximum elegance.

*** In 2017, our Estate received official Organic Certification for all agricultural activities, including the production of wine, olive oil, and other farm products. Although 2017 marks the first year of certified organic status, the Estate had been in conversion since 2013, and even prior to that it was cultivated in accordance with the organic requirements of the Regional Park regulations. As a result, all our wines have been produced according to organic standards for many years; however, from the 2017 vintage onward, we are officially authorized to display the Organic Production Symbol on all our labels.
