Description

Leonardo - Orange Wine - Trebbiano & Albana 2018

The 2018 growing season unfolded with a gentler pace in the hills between Romagna and Toscana. A cool start and well-timed spring rains were followed by a warm, stable summer, enabling balanced and even ripening. The grapes were hand-harvested at night on September 3-4th, 2016.

This cuvée is inspired by the traditional winemaking practices of the hills between Toscana and Romagna, where farmers historically blended Albana and Trebbiano to achieve greater balance. Leonardo adopted this approach using the highly concentrated juice obtained from the intense pressing of both varieties, resulting in an orange-colored wine of pronounced strength, aromatic intensity, and depth.

Fermentation and maturation began with 6 months in stainless-steel tanks, followed by 6 months of refinement in wooden barriques. The wine was then bottled and further aged in our cellar, allowing its character to integrate and evolve. The wine displays a radiant golden–amber color, both luminous and elegant, with a dense yet brilliant visual texture that conveys purity and vitality.

The nose is fine, floral, and precise, built around yellow flowers and broom, accompanied by aromatic herbs, balsamic touches, star anise, and subtle marine iodine. A clean and refined bouquet, uniting fragrance with depth.

On the palate, the wine is composed and harmoniously balanced, showing neither excessive tannins nor salinity. Instead, it presents a perfect interplay between smoothness and freshness. The mid-palate is broad and expressive, featuring ripe, well-defined fruit supported by vivid acidity. The finish is elegant, pure, and clear, offering a pleasing sense of immediacy.

A Leonardo of remarkable equilibrium, expressing freshness, finesse, and grace—versatile and authentically enjoyable.

*** At Divinalux, we use only a refined touch of sulfites—just enough to protect the wine as it ages, without overshadowing its purity. While sulfites may be more noticeable in wine than in food due to the presence of alcohol, they remain discreet for most consumers.

Our philosophy is simple: minimal intervention, maximum elegance.

*** In 2017, our Estate received official Organic Certification for all agricultural activities, including the production of wine, olive oil, and other farm products. Although 2017 marks the first year of certified organic status, the Estate had been in conversion since 2013, and even prior to that it was cultivated in accordance with the organic requirements of the Regional Park regulations. As a result, all our wines have been produced according to organic standards for many years; however, from the 2017 vintage onward, we are officially authorized to display the Organic Production Symbol on all our labels.
