Description

Dar - Romagna DOCG Albana Secco 2020

The 2020 growing season in the hills between Romagna and Toscana was overall balanced, with early warmth followed by stable conditions throughout summer.
Budbreak occurred slightly ahead of average due to mild spring temperatures. Rainfall was moderate and well-distributed, ensuring proper vegetative growth without excessive vigor. Summer temperatures were warm but not extreme, with consistent breezes and notable diurnal shifts at our 250–300 m site above the crystal-rich soils of the vineyard. These factors supported gradual sugar accumulation and excellent preservation of acidity.

Harvest took place at night on the 28th of August, allowing the Albana clusters to enter the cellar at naturally cool temperatures, limiting oxidative stress and maintaining aromatic precision.

Fermentation was conducted at controlled low temperatures in stainless-steel tanks, a protocol designed to preserve delicate varietal compounds while enhancing minerality and floral definition. Lees management was minimal to maintain clarity and structural integrity.

After bottling, the wine underwent further refinement in our cellars, stabilizing naturally and gaining additional aromatic complexity and textural balance prior to release.

Albana 2020 presents a profile characterized by clean varietal expression, firm acidity, defined mineral tension and the polished elegance typical of Divinalux.

Tasting notes

DAR Romagna DOCG Albana Secco 2020

Albana di Romagna, Italy’s first white DOCG (1986), reaffirms its regal identity in 2020. The wine shines with a bright, intense golden hue, elegant and pure. The nose blends yellow flowers, peach, and apricot with subtle sage and fine herbs, followed by chalky mineral notes that add verticality and depth. On the palate, it’s fresh, lively, and tense, with crisp acidity supporting juicy, ripe fruit. The peach takes center stage mid-palate, joined by saline vibrancy that extends the finish. A vintage of youth and energy, still unfolding, with freshness to be refined — it promises beautiful evolution and balance over time.
