Description

Victores - Romagna DOC Sangiovese Superiore 2017

The 2017 vintage in the hills between Romagna and Toscana was marked by spring frost, a warm, dry summer, and naturally low yields. Despite these challenging conditions, Victores 2017 reveals unexpected freshness, precision, and vitality — a testament to the crystalline gypsum soils of the UNESCO-listed Vena del Gesso ridge, which impart purity and mineral tension.

The grapes were harvested on September 13th, then fermented and matured in stainless-steel tanks before aging 16 months in 225-liter wooden barriques. After bottling, the wine continued to refine in our cellar. The result is a vintage that expresses finesse over power, with remarkable balance and definition.

The wine presents a deep, bright ruby color. The nose is fresh and aromatic, offering herbal and balsamic notes, mint, spice, and crisp red and dark cherry fruit. Subtle resin and mineral tones underline its cool, refined character — surprising for such a warm year.

On the palate, the wine is juicy, sapid, and finely structured, with firm yet balanced tannins and a clear mineral backbone. The finish is long, savory, and fresh, driven by tension and salinity that give the wine precision and elegance.

A Sangiovese Superiore of stature and finesse, Victores 2017 expresses both the energy and structure of the vintage and the distinctive minerality of its terroir. Ideal with grilled meats, rich sauces, and traditional Romagna dishes — a wine that proves even a warm year can achieve balance, harmony, and refinement.

*** At Divinalux, we use only a refined touch of sulfites—just enough to protect the wine as it ages, without overshadowing its purity. While sulfites may be more noticeable in wine than in food due to the presence of alcohol, they remain discreet for most consumers. Our philosophy is simple: minimal intervention, maximum elegance.

*** In 2017, our Estate received official Organic Certification for all agricultural activities, including the production of wine, olive oil, and other farm products. Although 2017 marks the first year of certified organic status, the Estate had been in conversion since 2013, and even prior to that it was cultivated in accordance with the organic requirements of the Regional Park regulations. As a result, all our wines have been produced according to organic standards for many years; however, from the 2017 vintage onward, we are officially authorized to display the Organic Production Symbol on all our labels.
